TMA (UK) Annual Conference Review

04 December, 2012

While attendees at this year’s annual conference may have turned up pondering why the anticipated wall of turnarounds had failed to materialise, they will have left the London meeting having heard two passionately argued yet diametrically opposed views of the economy; a series of uplifting tales of British manufacturing companies; a compelling introduction to the world of statistical analysis and how it has revolutionised how professional football is played; and an exploration of a whole clutch of alternative ways to finance business, presented by the people doing it.

Throw in sessions comparing the role of the IBR and the CRO, and an introduction to the vital art of dealing with the media in a crisis, and you have this year’s TMA (UK) conference.

There was also the small matter of the launch of the first-ever pan-European turnaround accreditation scheme, an achievement ten years in the making which many of us had given up on, but which hopefully will achieve its goal of professionalising the art of turnaround across the Continent.

You may like to know some of the feedback received so far: 98% said that it was an excellent or good use of time or provided an excellent or good level of enjoyment. Over 98% rated the networking opportunities as excellent or good.¾
