As the industry undergoes rapid transformation – driven by electrification, new technologies and shifting competitor landscapes – suppliers find themselves at the crossroads of innovation and survival. Overcapacities in Europe, margin pressure and high (financing) costs exert additional pressures on the industry. In this dynamic environment, holistic transformation programs play a crucial role in bolstering automotive suppliers’ ability to sustain or regain competitiveness.

Knee Deep in the Hoopla: Post-Merger Integration and Further Challenges in Automotive Debtor-in-possession Proceedings
Learn more about one of the most intricate insolvency cases in the field of automotive restructuring that occurred in Germany during 2022/23.
After recently acquiring three autonomous production plants through separate insolvency proceedings, Rüster GmbH, a Tier 1 supplier for global Blue-Chip OEMs, found itself filing for debtor-in-possession proceedings in the autumn of 2022.
The case study will delve into the distinctive challenges posed by this specific case and the broader landscape of automotive restructuring. This includes navigating the complexities of commercial and operational reconciliation with the OEMs, managing the operational post-merger integration of four independent factories within insolvency proceedings, and unraveling the intricacies of prior asset deals with the former insolvency administrators.
Christian Stoffler (CRO) and Fredrik Ljungman (COO) served as managing directors during the debtor-in-possession proceedings, with Christian Schmitt appointed as the general representative.
