Janina Ruster is a lawyer at White & Case, Hamburg, Germany, focusing on restructuring and insolvency law.

She handles crisis and insolvency situations, advising creditors, debtors and their management as well as insolvency administrators, especially in complex cross border matters (also with a focus on French speaking clients).

At White & Case, Janina works closely together with insolvency administrators, handling in-court insolvency proceedings in various industry sectors (e.g. shipping, retail).

Prior to joining White & Case, she built an expertise in insolvency and restructuring law matters while working with a number of leading international law firms.

Janina holds a master’s degree in law (double maîtrise franco-allemande) of the University of Cologne and the University of Paris 1 (Panthéon-Sorbonne). Her doctoral thesis deals with the invalidity of contractual ipso-facto clauses in the event of insolvency – with comparative law and conflict of law aspects. She regularly writes publications on insolvency and restructuring law.
